My WordPress Blog Could’ve Been Hacked – Detectify Saved Me
If I told you that there’s one place you can go to get peace of mind that your website is secure, would you believe me? Well you should, because there is. It’s called Detectify. I’m the kind of website owner that has always sort of been in denial. It can’t happen to me. Why would anyone ever want to hack my site? Well, all those delusions came crashing down around my head in 2011 when the main PHP file of my home page was replaced with a web page announcing that the site had been successfully hacked. Not only was…

Make Your Own White Noise Machine on the Cheap
If you like white noise to help you relax, you can certainly buy an electronic player or a phone app, but nothing sounds quite as nice as an actual machine. Make Projects put together a DIY version made from common household objects.
Why bother? Make explains:
Most white noise machines on the market are either electronic machines that play recordings of white noise, which can sound a lot like radio static, or machines that generate natural white noise from the sound of rushing air. These natural white noise machines simply consist of a mechanical fan that pushes air through an acoustic resonator to create the desired sound. By experimenting with household objects, such as an electric fan and a coffee can, you can easily create your own natural white noise machine to customize the soundscape of your environment for much less than even the cheapest machines on the market!
You’ll have to design your own sound by choosing materials and experimenting, but for the most part you just need a small motorized fan and a container. It’s a fun project because you get to customize it just the way you like and you’ll save a bunch of money if you’ve been considering buying a machine instead. Check out the video above or the full post over at Make Projects for more information.

The first 11 minutes of Captain America 2 are a lot of fun—watch here
Wow. Marvel just released the first 11 minutes of Captain America 2: Winter Soldier—which will premiere on April 4. Lots of action happens in those minutes and, funnily enough, most of it is Scarlett Johansson kicking some serious ass in her tight Black Widow suit.

Delete Old DRM Copies of iTunes Music and Download DRM-Free Versions
If you purchased any music from iTunes between 2003 and 2009, you downloaded tracks with DRM in them. Apple’s long since removed the DRM, but you might not have. Wired shows how to update your music library with the new, DRM-free versions.
The process here is pretty simple, but if you’re anything like me, you never bothered to actually do it:
- In iTunes, select iTunes > Preferences and click the "Store tab"
- Make sure "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases" is checked and close the Preferences panel
- Click on the cloud icon in your list view
and make sure all your purchases are there - Now, delete the old DRM versions by sorting by "Kind" in the list view (if it’s not there, go to View > Show View Options and select it)
- Scroll down to see if any tracks are listed as "Protected AAC audio file." That’s the DRM music you need to replace
Once you run through the process of deleting those songs you can download them from the cloud at any point, DRM free. This has been around for a while, but if you haven’t grabbed those DRM free versions, nows as good a time as any.
